Chances are you are considering therapy because you feel overwhelmed and require some guidance to get back on course. My therapeutic approach focuses on Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) to enhance interpersonal relationships (family, friends, and co-workers) and to help you gain the skills required to reduce your emotional challenges. I also incorporate a Strengths-Based (client-centred) Perspective. This is because you are not your problems and carry with you an abundance of strengths and resources. As your therapist, I aim to create an environment where you feel safe, accepted, respected, and understood.

I have been a registered social worker for over ten years and have had the opportunity to work with various populations in the community; ranging from elderly members to youth, women, newcomers, and racialized communities. Some of the issues included intimate partner violence, concurrent disorders and substance abuse issues, anxiety, depression, trauma, and personality disorders (such as bipolar and borderline disorders). However, I have a special interest in supporting members of the Caribbean and Afro-Canadian Communities, whose challenges with mental health are complicated by cultural and lived experiences (which is a gap in mainstream mental health programs).

I recognize that there continues to be a lack of education about mental health in communities of colour, which contributes to the stigma that continues to linger in these communities. Therefore, I am offering video or teletherapy for individuals who may not be comfortable accessing therapy the traditional way.
