    Welcome! My name is Tara and I have 14 years’ experience providing counselling to people who are struggling with issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, emotion regulation, grief and loss, low self-esteem, relationship problems, difficult family dynamics, sexual violence, life transitions, racism/racial trauma, and trauma/PTSD related to childhood or adulthood. I earned my Bachelor of Social Work degree from the University of Victoria and my Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto.

    My approach is client centred and is based on anti-oppressive and trauma informed principles. I believe in empowering my clients to build on their existing strengths and providing them with the skills and tools they need to resolve their concerns successfully. I am dedicated to providing a safe space for my clients to explore and process their feelings so that they work towards greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and self-acceptance, which I believe are all key to emotional healing. I recognize that culture plays a major role in people’s lives and problems, therefore my approach to counselling is one where cultural factors can be comfortably discussed and respected.
